FREE GIF SPRITE SHEET TOOL
Turn an animated GIF into one PNG sprite sheet for games and animations. Choose the layout, then download the image on your device.
HOW IT WORKS
Choose an animated GIF from your device. It stays in your browser while you work.
Set the columns, rows, frame size, spacing, and background for the finished sheet.
Create a PNG preview of the arranged frames, with an optional list of frame positions.
Download the sprite sheet and add it to your game, app, or animation project.
A sprite sheet combines multiple animation frames into one image file. This makes it easier to use GIF animations in games and applications. GIFEdit turns an animated GIF into a PNG sprite sheet with a clear grid, so you can work with one image instead of many separate frame files.
Choose original or custom frame size, set columns and rows, add spacing between frames, pick a transparent or solid background, and download a clean PNG sprite sheet. Leave rows empty for an automatic layout, or set a fixed number of rows when you need unused slots to stay blank at the end.
Use the finished sprite sheet in Unity, Godot, Phaser, HTML5 games, and other 2D animation tools. In Unity, import the PNG and slice it by frame size. In Godot, bring the PNG in as a sprite sheet source and cut frames by width and height. In Phaser, load the sheet with the same frame size, or use the optional JSON file for each frame’s position.
Optional JSON download includes the sheet size, grid settings, frame count, total duration, and each frame’s position, size, and timing. That makes it easier to place frames in a game or custom animation tool without measuring the PNG by hand.
After creating a sheet, you can flip the animation order or export smaller sprite frames before building the sheet again. Processing stays private in your browser with no upload and no account.
GOOD TO KNOW
A sprite sheet combines multiple animation frames into one image file, making the animation easier to use in games and applications.
Upload your GIF animation, choose the columns, rows, frame size, and spacing, then generate and download the PNG sprite sheet.
Yes. Download the PNG, import it into Unity, and slice it by frame width and height in the Sprite Editor. If you also download the JSON file, you get a simple list of each frame’s position on the sheet.
PNG is a practical format for sprite sheets because it keeps image quality and supports transparent backgrounds.
Every frame in your GIF can be placed on the sheet. Very large sheets may be too big for your browser, so try a smaller frame size or fewer columns if generation is blocked.
