Terms of Use

Terms that govern your use of GIFEdit

These Terms of Use explain the rules for using gifedit.tools and the free browser-based GIF editing tools offered on the site.

Last updated: March 26, 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

By accessing or using gifedit.tools, including any GIF editing tool, informational page, or downloadable output generated through the site, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

These terms are a legally binding agreement between you and the operator and publisher of gifedit.tools (“GIFEdit”). Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

How to reach the operator
Service: GIFEdit at gifedit.tools
Email: support@gifedit.tools
Website: https://gifedit.tools

The operator of the service is identified through this website and support email.

2. The service

GIFEdit provides browser-based tools that help you edit animated GIFs. Current tools include cropping, resizing, compression, trimming, reversing, speed changes, text captions, and sprite sheet export. Features may change, improve, or be discontinued over time.

GIFEdit is offered primarily as a free set of website tools. We may add, remove, or rearrange pages and features without advance notice when needed to maintain or improve the service.

3. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding agreement under the laws that apply to you. If you use GIFEdit on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms for that entity.

The service is not directed to children under 13. Do not use GIFEdit if you are under 13.

4. Your files and content

You keep ownership of the GIF files and other content you bring to the tools. GIFEdit does not claim ownership of your media simply because you opened it in the browser editor.

You are solely responsible for the files you process and the outputs you create. That includes making sure you have the rights, licenses, permissions, and legal basis needed to edit, download, publish, or share those files.

Do not use GIFEdit with content that you do not have the right to use, or content that is unlawful, infringing, harmful, or abusive.

5. License to use GIFEdit

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use gifedit.tools for your personal or internal business purposes in accordance with these terms.

This license does not include the right to:

  • copy, scrape, or mirror the site for a competing service,
  • reverse engineer the site except where applicable law allows,
  • bypass technical limits, usage limits, or security controls,
  • use automated bulk systems that degrade the service for others,
  • or remove branding, notices, or attributions that appear in the product interface where applicable.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use GIFEdit to:

  • violate any law or regulation,
  • infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights,
  • create or distribute malware, exploits, or deceptive content,
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, or compromise the website or related systems,
  • harass, abuse, or harm others,
  • or misrepresent the source of content in a fraudulent way.

We may suspend or block access if we reasonably believe these terms are being violated or if use threatens the stability or security of the service.

7. Browser-based processing and results

Many GIFEdit tools are designed to process files locally in your browser. That design helps protect privacy and keep everyday edits convenient, but results can still vary by device capability, browser support, memory, file size, and animation complexity.

Output files may differ from the source because editing and export can involve saving a new version of the file. Timing, colors, transparency, looping, compression, and other file details may change even when a tool aims to preserve quality.

You are responsible for reviewing previews and downloaded files before you rely on them in publishing, client work, or redistribution.

8. No professional advice

Content on GIFEdit, including help text, guides on our pages, FAQs, and examples, is for general informational and product guidance only. It is not legal, security, accessibility, or professional compliance advice.

9. GIFEdit intellectual property

The GIFEdit name, site design, interface, text, graphics, logos, and software that make up the service are owned by GIFEdit or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license above, no rights are granted to you.

Feedback you send us, such as suggestions about features or copy, may be used to improve the product without obligation to compensate you.

10. Third-party services

The site may depend on browsers, operating systems, font providers, hosting providers, and other third-party infrastructure. GIFEdit is not responsible for third-party outages, browser bugs, or external service changes outside our reasonable control.

11. Disclaimers

GIFEdit is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that outputs will meet your quality, compatibility, or commercial requirements.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GIFEdit and its operators, contributors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the site.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim or (b) USD $50. Because many tools are currently free, that amount may be $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GIFEdit and its operators from and against claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these terms or applicable law.

14. Changes to the service or terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. If you continue using GIFEdit after the updated terms take effect, you accept the revised terms.

We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service at any time. We are not obligated to keep every tool available forever.

15. Termination

You may stop using GIFEdit at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, if required by law, or if needed to protect the service or other users. Sections that by nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnity, will survive.

16. Disputes and notices

If a dispute arises, you agree to first email support@gifedit.tools so we can try to resolve it informally.

Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you where you live. Notices under these terms may be sent to support@gifedit.tools.

These terms do not currently name a single exclusive court or governing-law venue. If a formal dispute remains after good-faith contact, the process will follow the laws and forums that validly apply to the parties and the claim, including any mandatory rules that protect you as a consumer.

17. General terms

  • Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and GIFEdit regarding the service.
  • Severability. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
  • No waiver. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to do so later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

18. Contact

Questions about these Terms of Use can be sent to support@gifedit.tools. More contact options are listed on our Contact page.
