Privacy Policy

How GIFEdit handles your privacy

This Privacy Policy explains what GIFEdit does with your information, how the browser-based GIF tools work, and how to reach us with privacy questions.

Last updated: March 26, 2026

1. Privacy summary

GIFEdit provides free online tools for editing animated GIFs at gifedit.tools. The core tools are built so you can edit on your device. In normal use, you select a GIF on your device, edit it in the browser, and download the result without creating an account.

Short version: when you edit a GIF, the file can stay on your device while you work. We do not require an account to use the core tools. If you email us, we receive the information you choose to send.

2. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the website and tools available at gifedit.tools, including pages such as Crop GIF, Resize GIF, Compress GIF, Trim GIF, Reverse GIF, Change GIF Speed, Add Text to GIF, and GIF to Sprite Sheet, as well as informational pages like About, Contact, Terms, and this Privacy Policy.

When this policy says “GIFEdit,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” it refers to the operator and publisher of gifedit.tools. When it says “you,” it refers to a visitor or user of the site.

How to reach the operator
Service: GIFEdit at gifedit.tools
Email: support@gifedit.tools
Website: https://gifedit.tools

Privacy questions and rights requests should be sent to support@gifedit.tools. The operator of the service is identified through this website and support email.

3. Editing GIFs on your device

GIFEdit’s core editing tools are designed to process GIF files in your browser on your device. For ordinary use of the editors, you should be able to:

  • choose a GIF from your computer or phone,
  • preview and adjust it in the page,
  • download a new file,
  • and do so without signing up.

During normal use, the GIF you open is not uploaded to GIFEdit servers just to finish the edit. The new file is created on your device for you to download. If that ever changes for a specific tool, we will update this policy before relying on server-side file uploads for core editing.

One important detail: “edited in your browser” describes how the tools handle your GIF. It does not mean the website itself never uses the internet. Loading the website still uses the internet. It means the GIF file you select for editing is handled on your device during normal editing.

4. Information we may collect

4.1 Information you send on purpose

If you contact us by email at support@gifedit.tools, we receive the content of your message, your email address, and any attachments or details you include. We use that information to respond and to keep a record of the support conversation.

4.2 Technical information from running a website

Like most websites, gifedit.tools may be delivered through hosting, security, or delivery providers. Those systems can automatically process technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, date and time of the request, referring URL, requested pages, and approximate location derived from IP address. This kind of data is commonly used for security, reliability, fixing problems, abuse prevention, and basic traffic understanding.

4.3 GIF file contents

During normal editing, your GIF is opened and edited in the browser so the tool can crop, resize, compress, trim, reverse, caption, or convert the animation. That file content is not requested by GIFEdit as an upload to our servers for standard editing.

4.4 Accounts and payments

GIFEdit’s current core tools do not require user accounts or paid subscriptions. If that changes later, we will update this policy before collecting account credentials, billing details, or similar information.

5. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies

The site may use common browser storage tools such as cookies, local storage, or session storage. These may be used for things like:

  • keeping basic site preferences,
  • remembering simple on-page choices for a short time,
  • supporting security or performance features,
  • or measuring aggregated traffic if analytics are enabled.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect non-essential site behavior, but local GIF editing does not depend on creating a GIFEdit account cookie.

6. Analytics and measurement

Hosting and security systems may create ordinary technical logs when you load gifedit.tools. Those logs can include items like IP address, browser type, and requested pages. They help keep the site available and secure.

We may also use basic analytics to understand aggregate page usage and reliability. Measurement of the website is separate from local GIF editing. Analytics and logs are not used to read the contents of GIFs you open in the tools, and we do not use those GIF contents to build advertising profiles.

If our measurement setup changes in a material way, for example by adding a new analytics provider that affects this description, we will update this section.

7. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • operate and improve gifedit.tools,
  • keep the website secure and available,
  • find and fix bugs and performance problems,
  • understand which tools are used most,
  • respond to support requests,
  • and meet legal or compliance obligations when required.

We do not sell your GIF files. We also do not use the contents of GIFs from local editing to build advertising profiles about you.

8. When information may be shared

We may share information only in limited situations, such as:

  • Service providers that help host, secure, deliver, or measure the website.
  • Legal requirements if we are required to respond to a valid legal process or protect rights, safety, and security.
  • Business transfers if GIFEdit is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, in which case information may transfer as part of that transaction under appropriate safeguards.
  • With your direction if you ask us to look at something you intentionally send, such as an email attachment.

9. Retention

Support emails and related correspondence are retained only as long as needed to handle your request, maintain useful support history, and meet legal or security requirements. Technical logs are retained for a limited period consistent with security and operations needs.

Because standard GIF edits are designed to happen in your browser, GIFEdit is not built around storing your project files in an online library on our servers.

10. Security

We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the website and any information we handle. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. You should also keep your own device and browser up to date, especially when working with files from untrusted sources.

11. International access

GIFEdit may be used by people in different countries. If you access the site from outside the region where our hosting or support systems operate, your information may be processed in another country that has different data protection rules. Where required, we take steps appropriate to the nature of the data and the transfer.

12. Children’s privacy

GIFEdit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact support@gifedit.tools and we will take appropriate steps.

13. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you,
  • request access or correction,
  • request deletion of information you sent us,
  • object to or restrict certain processing,
  • or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Because many tool interactions stay on your device, the personal information we can directly access is often limited to what you email us and ordinary website technical logs. To make a privacy request, email support@gifedit.tools with enough detail for us to understand and verify the request. We aim to respond to verified privacy requests within 30 days, or sooner when required by law.

14. Third-party sites and content

Our pages may link to third-party websites or resources. This policy applies to gifedit.tools. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites. Review their policies before providing information to them.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product, laws, or infrastructure change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of gifedit.tools after an update means you should review the revised policy.
